David Celli
I’m David. I’ve been writing software for over twenty years, with a lot of time spent on cryptography, reverse engineering, software protection and licensing. If something is complicated enough to make me ask “how the hell does that work?”, I’ll probably end up taking it apart.
01 The story
I like figuring out how things work.
A lot of my work starts without source code. I read compiled binaries, work out undocumented formats and protocols, and figure out what a protection scheme actually does.
I expect people to do the same to my software. Hiding a check in the client doesn’t make it trustworthy.
The cryptography side comes down to choosing established algorithms, handling the keys correctly, and being specific about what the system protects. There’s plenty of difficult work there without inventing a cipher.
I’ve also built and sold commercial software with thousands of license keys. Licensing, activation, updates, payments, support: all of it ends up being your problem when you ship the thing.
Dynamic Delights, LLC is my company. EnChord is the community app I’m building under it, with message content encrypted on each person’s device.
02 What I work on
The stuff I get into.
These overlap a lot. EnChord has me working on all five.
- 01
Applied cryptography
-
Key agreement, signatures, authenticated encryption and key recovery, built from well-studied primitives rather than invented ones.
In EnChord that means hybrid post-quantum key agreement (X25519 with ML-KEM-768), MLS for upgraded direct messages, and recovery kits protected with Argon2id and AES-256-GCM.
- 02
Reverse engineering
-
Reading compiled software without source, reconstructing undocumented protocols and file formats, and analyzing how protections hold up against a determined attacker.
I use the same approach when checking my own builds.
- 03
Software protection and licensing
-
License-key generation and validation, activation, tamper resistance, and the business systems around them.
I’ve run these systems for my own commercial software, including thousands of sold license keys.
- 04
Cross-platform engineering
-
More than 29 programming languages across systems code, desktop, mobile, web and backend services.
EnChord alone ships native apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, plus a web client, and its developer SDKs produce identical keys in three languages.
- TypeScript
- JavaScript
- Rust
- Swift
- Java
- Python
- SQL
- Shell
Languages in EnChord’s own codebase: a small slice of the 29+.
- 05
Infrastructure and operations
-
Running production systems end to end: deployment, versioned releases with rollback checkpoints, backups, and security monitoring.
I handle the deployment and recovery side too. A backup needs to be something I can actually restore.
03 The company
About Dynamic Delights.
Dynamic Delights, LLC is the company behind my software. Right now, most of my work goes into EnChord.
Security software is too often grim to use. We’d rather make products people enjoy, on foundations they never have to think about. What I’m building is EnChord and see what I’m working on.
